Cappadocia – November 17, 2014

Today was definitely one of those days that lasts a life time.  A perfect day.  An amazing day.  A day I will always remember, for all my life.

We wavered on our decision whether or not to do a hot air balloon ride.  As you know from reading previous posts, I am terrified of heights, so being in a hot air balloon would make me feel very uncomfortable; yet it was always something that I wanted to try.  It was also a little more money than we would normally spend on an activity.  However, when we asked ourselves if we would later regret not doing it, the answer was yes, we would regret not taking the chance to float high above the fairy chimneys.  So the decision was made, yes we are going to do it and now there was no turning back.

Our day started a 5 am when we were picked up at the hotel and taken out of town to a field with 200 other hot air balloons.  Some of the balloons were ready for lift off while others were still being set up.  We waited just a short time before were we hopping into the basket.  Our pilot gave us a quick run down of take off and landing procedure and then it was just us and 20 others rising slowly and gently into the sky to quietly float over the fairy chimneys.  The hour fifteen that we were in the air was such an amazing time, looking out across the sky and watching the sun rise, looking down at the fairy chimneys and all the other incredible scenery.  Breathtaking views!

We will let the pictures speak for themselves.
